Divine Beginnings: Embracing the Creative Flow

Reflections, Music, and Multi-Dimensional Creativity to Kickstart the New Year

Welcome to 2025!

It’s January 1st, and as we step into “the New Year” I find myself reflecting on this transitional time with a quieter energy.

Traditionally, the start of the year is accompanied by the frenetic push toward resolutions and ambitious goals. But this year, as a 42-year-old, I’m embracing the stillness of winter and the introspection it brings.

While this date marks the start of the Gregorian calendar year, I’ve been mindful that nature’s new year comes with the spring equinox in March.

For now, this feels like a season for reflection and calm, a chance to connect with a deeper rhythm.

Recently, a newsletter from my friend Ebonee Davis inspired me. She’s committed to exploring all dimensions of her creativity, and it resonated deeply.

I, too, carry passions that span music, podcasting, poetry, filmmaking, and storytelling.

Platforms like Substack feel like a perfect way to bring these threads together.

While exploring Substack today, I discovered its podcasting feature. Even though I already host several podcasts, I thought, why not?

It feels like a moment to shed perfectionism and experiment freely.

After all, many successful creators didn’t master platforms like Instagram or TikTok overnight. They dove in, learned by doing, and grew organically.

That’s the energy I want to carry forward: letting go of “getting it right” and focusing instead on simply starting.

This fresh start has me reflecting on last year’s creative journey—particularly in music.

Music, for me, is spiritual technology, the most powerful force on earth. It’s universal and deeply emotional, connecting us beyond language through vibration. This knowing guided my commitment to being more intentional about releasing music last year.

On January 1st, 2024, I released my first song in two years under my solo project.

Before that, I had only released one song on my birthday in 2022. But something shifted. Over the course of 2024, I released eight new songs, which were streamed over 50,000 times.

It was extremely fulfilling to see people connecting with the music.

Highlights of the year included performing at my spiritual wellness festival, The Glow Up, in October with Londrelle, Toni Jones, Tone Levels, Ebonee Davis, and Sej the One.

You can see the power of the energy we cultivated as a community running through everyone at the afterparty we had after The Glow Up.

I also got to play one of my new songs live in Los Angeles at Shanin Blake’s show with Sej the One.

That performance marked my first time on a stage outside of my own events, and it was transformative. These moments reinforced how far intention and consistent steps can take us.

As I look ahead, my focus is on being a consistent, multi-dimensional creator. I’ve learned that fulfillment doesn’t come from achieving a singular vision of success.

Instead, it’s about staying true to our evolving selves and expressing that authenticity in meaningful ways.

For me, that means keeping the channels of creativity open, whether through music, writing, podcasting, or other mediums. Substack feels like the perfect space to document and share this journey.

To those joining me here, thank you. I’ll be sharing insights into how I stay connected to my creative core and the processes behind my work.

Three things that are foundational to my creative output are

  1. Connection to Christ

  2. Connection with family and gratitude

  3. Connection to community & nature

If there are specific topics or mediums you’d like to explore together, let me know.

This is a collaborative space, and I’m excited to see where it takes us.

Here’s to embracing your own creative pursuits this year.

Start where you are, let go of perfection, and take that first step.

Wishing you peace, inspiration, and joy in the journey ahead.
